The unifying theme of our research program is to elucidate the involvement of lipids in different decision making processes of the cell.
Lipids are fundamental building blocks of cells. They are also being increasingly recognized for their critical roles as signaling molecules. It is now clear that cells produce thousands of unique lipid species with diverse functions. However, the functions of individual lipid species are unclear, primarily due to the limited tools and methodologies to study lipid function. In our lab, we work on bridging this gap in knowledge using set integrated methodologies, including lipidomics and transcriptomics, structure-specific lipid probes, and biophysical characterizations to determine the function of lipids.
